House of Heroes
Reading and cooking.
I was working with Vonda Kay at another radio station when we heard about YES-FM coming on the air soon and doing interviews. She went to church, at that time, with the founder of YES-FM. SHe talked with him and said we were interested. We applied, got interviews, we both were offered jobs, but I had to turn it down at the time, as the timing was not right. Nine months later, I walked in to visit and those in charge brought me into an office, we talked, the time was now right, and I was hired!
Being in a radio ministry, you have to watch your walk more carefully as you are in the public eye.
Toledo all my life.
John 10:10. Reminds me that what the Devil and the world offer is nothing compared to what jesus offers.
Songs from bands wanting to be played on YES-FM!
Traveling, map reading, weather watching.
The flatbread pizza at Granite City with pulled pork, mushrooms and goat cheese. Here you have the four main food groups, pork, pizza, cheese and fungus… and pork, did I mention pork already?
Friends I love in Jesus.
The sound of a baseball off of a wooden bat, when the batter has squared up on the ball just right.
Each day is a different because each day, the Holy Spirit shows me something that is appropriate for the day from a verse that I have read. Nothing is more awesome than that expectation each day.
I love roller coasters, just not in love with the fact that you never know what may have transpired in that seat earlier in the day from someone who may not have enjoyed it as much!
Unfair question, it presumes that is possible or desirable. To answer this question would then be a step towards growing up so I will have to ignore this one, and I suggest everybody reading this do the same.
The Patriot with Mel Gibson. Why are there not more movies from the founding era of our country?
George Washington, Michelangelo, and Christopher Columbus.
ER when Clooney was in it, The Office, America’s Got Talent
Playing with sound equipment at church, or jamming with friends.
The best times are always the concerts. Skillet & TobyMac in Toledo was great.
It’s all about the glorious pay [jk]

Favorite memory of YES FM?
Rob Kelly and Jay Wagoner inadvertently getting involved in a police chase on their way to an event
After moving to the area in February, 2011, I emailed the station to see if they needed any volunteers after finding out about it in Sept., 2011, and Jeff told me they were hiring part-time talent. I have been blessed to be a part of this family since. I’ve also been blessed to be a part of a Christian music station everywhere I have lived (Marquette, Mich., Columbus, Bay City, Mich., Lafayette, Ind. and in Northwest Ohio).
It has strengthened my ties to the Christian community after being a new person to the area. I have made great friends and family in Christ because of YES-FM.
My mom’s homemade pastys (it’s a food made mostly only in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan…think a chicken pot pie, but with beef…and no sauce). You can win me over with Chinese or Thai though.
“The Cross and the Switchblade” by David Wilkerson: One of the first books I read out of my church’s library as a kid. Wonderful story about a pastor reaching out to gang members and drug addicts in New York in the late 50s/early 60s
Joe Montana: The San Francisco 49ers have been a early childhood love and Montana was the star. He made me want to be a quarterback. Too bad you actually need athletic talent to be good at it.
Colossians 3:17: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Demon Hunter’s “True Defiance”, a mix of alt-country tunes, Mac Powell’s solo project, Seventh Day Slumber’s worship cd “Take Everything”, a mix cd of 90s/2000s Christian alternative songs, and Tourniquet’s new cd “Antiseptic Bloodbath”.
I’m just enjoying being a new parent with my wife of 11 years. When I do have down time, I try to keep up to date with my favorite sports teams, the Red Wings, the 49ers, the Red Sox and Wigan Athletic soccer.
My Mom’s stuffed cabbage. I think I have it down now but hers is always the best.
I like quirky, weird movies or epic movies. Anything with John Cusack, Grand Budapest Hotel, Hobbit, Lord of the Rings.
John 3:17. Everyone tends to know John 3:16 but the next line is so cool. Jesus is saying this, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” I have this tattooed on my wrist. I wondered if God approved of my tattoo and the next lesson I taught in confirmation class was this verse. Goose bumps!!
My parents. They left Hungary during the 1956 Revolution against communism. They were both in their early twenties and fled the country, hiding my brother under their coats. My parents choose to be true rebels and because of this I live in a country with true freedom.
I started working as a volunteer. I’ve really felt Yes FM was where I belonged and now I work here!
Stuff is just stuff but the thing I would want to have is our family pictures. My Dad rocking a fedora at age 15.
Usually Italian, but lately I’ve had a taste for just about anything curry
There are too many to pick just one. Classics are The Princess Bride and The Mission.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” This sentiment appears several times in scripture and it puts things in perspectives. My hope lies in the Lord alone and no matter my circumstance, I want my life to be evidence of His grace and mercy.
What is in your CD player right now?
I don’t think I’ve used my CD player much lately, but my itunes has been a lot on Matt Maher, or Jamie Grace when my girls are listening :).
This is going to make me sound incredibly nerdy and boring, but I recently learned to knit. It is something that I can do without much thought and unwind as I do it and make some cool things for friends and family at the same time. Nerdy, right?
Spare time? Being the mom of two active girls keeps me pretty busy, but when I do have some time I like to read and do some knitting referenced above.
My mom. She passed away in 2003, but I think of her everyday. She was such a great example of faith and just made life fun, memorable and invested in my brother and I knowing that God had greater plans for us than either one of us could have imagined.
I have become one of those people who binges on shows on Netflix, watching entire series in short periods of time. I do enjoy Downton Abby, also.
I am one of the originals. I started working at YES FM a couple weeks before we even signed on the air – I think I was 12 years old, at least, that is my story for those of you doing the math right now!
There are so many, but there was one morning on the air with Todd Hostetler when we both got laughing so hard we couldn’t even talk. I’m sure it was not great radio because there was a lot of wheezing and dead air, but for us it was hilarious. We always said the best show took place off the air because we laughed a lot!
I work at YES because I believe in the mission and want to be a part of sowing into the lives of those who are listening. It truly is a privilege.
Mashed Potatoes, Panera Mac and Cheese, Tortilini Soup, Fazoli’s Cheesecake, Olive Garden Breadsticks and my mom’s roast. Now that is one delicious meal!
Matthew 11:28, I was going through a really rough time filled with doubts, worry, and guilt and my cousin Stephanie sent me that verse in a text and it seriously changed my life.
Karaoke, Concerts, Going to the gym with my best friend, and Kickboxing!
Aladdin or Anything Arabian Nights, Vintage Game systems (Especially Nintendo NES), Sailor Moon.
I really love just being at the big concerts like Spirit Song and Winter Jam and talking to the listeners! The listeners make the greatest memories!
The Beast is the Best!!!!- King’s Island. I also really love the Millennium Force at Cedar Point!
Arrested Development. I think I have watched the whole series 20 times.
I would love to work in a copyright or licensing department in the future. Specifically for Harry Fox Agency!
The best hamburger made.
I collect movies, TV shows and video games I like.
Playing video games, going to the gym, riding my bike, spending time with family and friends.
The sound of rustling grass and trees in the wind and the crackling of a fire.
Relaxing by reading the Bible, spending time with my wife, ,playing video games.
Knowing I am part of something that God is using to change lives.

I just felt a calling to put my resume in.
Oh yeah in a more positive way. I feel I’m more open to asking people if they have a relationship with Christ now then before I worked with YES FM.
The Chronicles of Narnia, the Magician’s Nephew.
Looking back I would have said some super hero, now my Dad. He was so happy and proud of me for going to school for ministry. Everyday I wish I could be more like my Dad was.
I don’t have a favorite bible verse but my favorite story is the story of Babylon and King Nebuchadnezzar.
Twenty One Pilots and Toby Mac.
Gosh, if I had spare time I think I would just want to go out and lay in the hammock.
I got started at YES FM as a Production assistant, and that is what I am currently doing. I had just graduated from college and was looking for a radio job, so I applied at YES FM after seeing that they were hiring. I thought that it would be perfect because I’ve been a Christian for many years now, and being able to use my faith and my love for radio in my job was a perfect situation.
Working at YES has helped me in my walk with Christ because being around devoted Christians in my work helps me try to keep on the right path and make good decisions. I’ve also seen a positive change with music that I may have listened to before, I won’t listen to anymore because of the negativity in it.
Personal Foul by Tim Donaghy because I’m a huge sports nut.
Philippians 4:13, because after having a brain tumor, when I was just 2 years old, and going through so many surgeries, and yet still being able to do just about anything, I know that is only through Christ that I can do all these things.
A lot of NF and Steven Malcolm
I spend a lot of time with my wife, playing video games, and playing basketball.
